EDUrelief.org

the fact of the matter:
Imagine if you were in elementary school again, or maybe you still are, and while you may not love school, you are keen to learn, excited to build the foundation of your future. Now imagine that the support that allowed you to pursue this dream was suddenly just cut off, dashing any hopes you had of ever making anything of your life, stealing one of your most basic human rights, the right to education...
As we speak this is situation is happening to children in Mongolia, their government has stopped funding the basic necessities of their education. This must be stopped, this disaster must come to and end, and it can with your help. Check out ways to get involved, help spread the word, or make a donation. With their own government forgetting these kids, who is going to remember them? No one but people like you and me. Let's put an end to this.

A wall for social conciousness

A wall for social conciousness

On May 27th 2005 President Mugabe decided to start a 'beautification' campaign. This involved tearing down markets, shanty towns, slums and an orphanage in Zimbabwe.

It is estimated that over 700,000 peoplein Zimbabwe
have been displaced. 180 orphans at Hatcliffe Extension lost the only stability they had ever known. The orphans' homes, school and health clinic were destroyed. Access to health care, including treatment for HIV/AIDS was interrupted or is no longer accessible.

The UN report states, "the scale of suffering is immense, particularly among widows, single mothers, children, orphans..."

Can you believe that the problem is so extreme that street signs are being stolen and melted down to make handles for coffins?

September 15th 2005 the UN offered President Mugabe 30 million dollars in aid to feed the people he made homeless... He said no.

THE ONE DECLARATION

“WE BELIEVE that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to join with other countries in a historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and extreme poverty. WE RECOGNIZE that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting corruption and directing an additional one percent of the U.S. budget toward meeting basic needs – education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans – would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries. WE COMMIT ourselves - one person, one voice, one vote at a time - to make a better, safer world for all."
