News:

R.I.P. to The Crocodile: Doors are closed. The Crocs talent buyer, Pete, is moving to Chop Suey after Kris K relinquishes his title at the end of December. No news of when an official statement will be placed, but as soon as it is, we'll post it!
The Crocodile closing is more than a shame... And a blow to the local music scene. We'll miss you, we loved you.

-Who I remember seeing at the Croc:
Mute Math
Pete Yorn
OK GO
The Lonely Forest
Patient Patient
Spook the Horse
Ghostland Observatory
Sandi Thom
DJ Kris K
The Divorce
... the list is so long and I have horrible memory. Who do you remember seeing at the Croc? Comment on our myspace page with your list!

The Blood brothers break up:
After several months of rumors and speculation the seattle band, The Blood Brothers, have officially called it quits. A decade old, the band thinks it's time for them to go their seperate ways. Posting a bulletin on myspace directing their fans to their blog which said the following:

" THANK YOU AND GOODBYE

Dear Friends,

After 10 years of making music as The Blood Brothers, we have made the collective decision that our time together has come to an end. We feel extremely fortunate to have spent such a deeply memorable and amazing part of our lives with each other. At this point, however, we feel it's best that our futures move forward on separate paths. We'd like to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the bands we've played with, individuals who have helped us make our records, and fans who have come to our shows and picked up our music throughout the years. Your friendship, support and love hold such a profoundly special place in each of our hearts. We hope that the memories you attach to our music are as fond as those you have given us. Thank you and take care, we'll miss all of you.

Love,
The Blood Brothers"

Thankfully the band members of the Blood Brothers will be continuing on with their careers; Neon Blonde, Jaguar Love, Head Wound City- and of course the clothing line; Crystal City Clothing.
It's always a sad day when such a loved band breaks up, but we are thankful for what they have given us the past 10 years and thankful for their new projects!

Radiohead, pioneers of music:
So unless you live under a rock, you've heard about how Radiohead has their new album up to download on inrainbows.com. But what is unique about online buying (digital sales)?
What is unique about this is that Radiohead is allowing their fans (consumers) to be the judge of what their music is worth. Not only that, but it is allowing people who can't afford to buy new music all the time (which lets face it- with the price of CD's, if everyone bought all the music they love, they'd be broke) a way to download the album for free and legally. This may be the evolution in music sales that we've all been looking for.
Major Labels have been sinking because the lack of physical CD sales, the amount of digital sales (iTunes, etc.) is not compensating for the drop in physical sales (how many of you actually go to record stores to buy all your albums these days?).
Radiohead's idea of digital sales may be the new way to sell music digitally that labels and indie artists alike have been searching for.
I am not saying that this will happen overnight, or at all- but I think Radiohead is definitely on to something that is revolutionary.

If you want to discuss this, post a response in the guestbook.

Vendetta Red [R.I.P]: After seven years and many amazing songs, Vendetta Red has decided to call it quits...
This band, while they may not know it, was 80% of the reason why I got into the local music industry. I will always love the music they made and the members of the band-both old and new. But...
There is good news!
...the VR members will still rock your faces off in their new projects!

EMP Finals 02.25.06:
Last night was awesome. All the bands were amazing.... The crowd pleaser was John Van Deusen and the Lonely forest, and they also went away with the awesome title of : EMP sound off winners for 2006.

John Van Deusen and the Lonely Forest:
Rock n' roll recap:

: There was a sombrero on stage
: Jonny Warman played the flute for half of a song, before switching to guitar. (how many rock bands do you know with a flutist?)
: John V beat the crap out of: his tambourine and one of Braydn's cymbals. Serious aggression... taken out of the percussion section.
: The audience sang along (rather well) with john on 'the upside down tree'. "WoOoowooo O....wooOoO oo...."
: I think Carl bought new jeans for this show.... Carl? Did you?
: Braydn didn't beat the crap out of John for beating the crap out of his cymbal.

NWB loves you; Carl, John, Jonny and Braydn! Congratulations!

Love.
J. & NWB.
